Cedar and the environment

We have assessed the impact of our business on the environment and are now monitoring our environmental performance as well as the environmental performance of our suppliers and contractors. We also set regular targets for our business — for example, in 2009 we achieved a 10% reduction in electricity usage and a 30% reduction in landfill waste.

Cedar has ISO 14001 accreditation by UKAS-certified auditing body SGS.

Our environmental policy:

Cedar is committed to doing its utmost to help the environment and prevent pollution. We strongly believe that it is not only important, but also good business.

  • Central to our commitment is FSC and PEFC certification, ensuring that the paper for as many of our magazines as possible comes from well-managed forests.
  • We comply with ISO14001 and have been accredited by SGS. ISO14001 is a management system which ensures that we comply with environmental legislation and that the measures we take are effective. Cedar management is fully behind the system, which is monitored, documented and accessible to all employees.
  • We set targets to reduce the use of energy and waste we generate and update the documents to make sure the targets and actions are relevant.
  • We monitor printers and mailing houses we use for environmental performance and follow an environmental purchasing policy where possible. We also aim to raise awareness about environmental issues among suppliers, subcontractors, employees and customers.
  • We support the Woodland Trust

We welcome enquiries about our environmental policy, and will happily provide a copy, as well as any other supporting documentation.
