Cedar produces a variety of award-winning editorial content for British Airways, including digital platforms (bahighlife.com and theclub.ba.com), print magazines (High Life and Our BA), plus a new inspirational travel platform, currently in development.


As Content Editor, Travel & Luxury you will create impactful editorial content for our digital platforms and Our BA (BA’s quarterly internal comms print magazine).


Supported by the Content Director (Business, Travel & Luxury), your role will include all elements of the content lifecycle: idea creation, planning, commissioning, writing, editing, publishing, reporting, evaluation, and optimisation of the content.


You will have experience working on branded editorial, and be comfortable creating content led by client briefs, customer mindset, travel trends, content insights, and commercial objectives. Strong writing and editing skills are essential.

You will also be confident in evolving and develop digital channels, in accordance with feedback and user data.


Content ideation and planning

·        Respond to editorial content strategy and brand guidelines

·        Work with wider content team to create and present monthly and quarterly content plans in accordance with BA’s commercial priorities, audience data and insights and BA Media commercial requirements

·        Work with the BLT Content Director to generate and pitch ‘big ideas’ to the client on a quarterly basis, demonstrating an understanding of the audience, the latest trends, digital and social expertise and new content format innovations.


Content creation and production

·        Manage the editorial process, including concept and asset development, to produce unique and effective content in collaboration with the wider strategy, insights, design, Cedar Digital, Media team and BLT Content Director, as required

·        Apply SEO best practice, brand tone of voice and audience needs to all digital ideas

·        Source and commission writers in line with the content strategy

·        Conduct and write interviews as needed

·        Edit copy from contributors to reflect the brief and brand tone of voice

·        Work with design and Cedar Digital to ideate and execute creative that is on-brand and on-brief

·        Create CRM copy and manage approvals process with client (supported by account management).

·        Manage the CMS and the upload of content, with support from the Shared Content Assistant. E.g. article build and tagging, and optimising for SEO

Manage the production of assets
·        Refresh and update copy to ensure it is evergreen

·        Curate digital platform homepages as required

·        Develop relationships with quality journalists, travel writers, and local experts, to create stand-out content

·        Create or commission advertorials/other digital media formats for BA Media, as well as being proactive with potential ideas for the BA Media team to take to market

·        Attend client meetings (ad hoc) including at BA’s HQ at Waterside, Heathrow.


Content audit and tracking

·        Work with the Shared Content Assistant on the tracking of all live articles and audit process document

·        Ensure content is tagged correctly

·        Update evergreen content on a timely basis


Content promotion

·        Work with BA’s CRM team to create monthly emails that specifically promote Cedar’s digital content 

·        As required, develop content assets to promote the digital channels, highlighting new innovations or learnings that would be useful for potential new clients



·        Review and respond to content performance as shared by the Insight and Strategy team – recognise the content that works and develop this, while being pragmatic about the content that doesn’t

·        Review performance data and use this to inform the next content planning cycle, ensuring we’re reflecting audience needs at all times



·        Ensure the issues are created and produced within budget and on schedule

·        Ensure the correct commissioning forms are used and any deviation is checked with the account management team or the Business & Compliance Director

·        Ensure the internal budget documents are up-to-date for the finance team

·        Process POs and invoices for all content



·        Attend client meetings as required

·        Respond to ad hoc client briefs as part of a wider team

·        Involvement in new business to grow and develop travel/luxury accounts as required



This role requires someone who is incredibly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and be able to work well alone, as well as part of a team.


Desired experience and skills:


·        Excellent writing, editing and commissioning skills for branded content publications/websites

·        Travel inspiration content experience, with a good knowledge of the competitor landscape

·        A digital background, and an understanding of the different key audience segments and their varying digital customer journeys

·        A good level of technical knowledge of websites and their CMS

·        Able to apply SEO best practice to all content

·        Good contacts with quality travel writers and local experts, plus enthusiasm for building a network of editorial contributors.

·        Experience working with internal and external stakeholders and clients; confident making presentations to clients and other key stakeholders

·        Proactive idea generation and pitching

·        An exceptional eye for detail

·        Team player with enthusiasm and can-do attitude

·        Ability to operate with speed, flexibility, creativity and accuracy, in line with the needs of a fast-moving digital landscape

·        Ability to work under pressure and to deal with challenges quickly and effectively

·        Passion for self-development in the area of digital technology and social media

·        Competent in Microsoft Office programmes

This is a hybrid role based on 3 days in office/2 from home. We offer excellent benefits including flexible start/finish times, up to 4 weeks per year to work from abroad, cycle to work scheme, volunteer day, Christmas shutdown on top of holiday entitlement.
