ROLE: Junior Digital Editor, Tesco – maternity cover, fixed-term contract

LINE MANAGER: Acting Senior Digital Editor

 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Acting Junior Digital Editor plays a key role in producing all organic social media content for Tesco’s channels and food content for the Tesco Real Food (TRF) website. They are involved in everything from ideation to content calendar building, pre-shoot meetings, working closely with the art team, attending photoshoots and video shoots, and building content once shot.

 

As a food expert, they will be constantly coming up with brilliant recipe ideas, keeping on top of the latest food trends, suggesting new and exciting people to follow on social, and devising new ways of presenting content cross channel (digital, social, email). They are a key part of driving innovation across the digital channels.

 

KEY QUALITIES

A demonstrable passion for food, with some experience working within a food content environment.
·        A go-getting attitude – a willingness to do what it takes to deliver great work.

·        Ideas scoping – always looking for new trends and formats and ways to create innovative digital and social content.
·         A working knowledge of content management systems, analytics and measurement, UX and SEO.
·         Good writing skills and the ability to turn ideas into compelling copy for email, web, social/video.
Experience liaising with external contributors (e.g. talent, home economists, writers etc).
 

OBJECTIVES

Social content

·        Brainstorm brilliant ideas for TikTok, Meta and Pinterest, proactively contributing to internal meetings and speaking confidently about new trends and native formats that will engage customers.

·        Develop ideas for recipes, working with other members of the team and home economists where necessary to stress test your ideas.

·        Source talent from a diverse pool of potential contributors.

·        Attend editorial photoshoots and video shoots, working with the creative team/clients to help ensure ideas remain true to the editorial vision while working for the clients.

·        Brief in and review social assets with the wider team, working with account management to review client feedback and ensure timely delivery of content/amends.

·        Create content for Pinterest: planning, calendar scheduling, writing copy, creating pins using InDesign, editorialising Pins to increase engagement e.g. through creative recipe titles/carousels.

·        Work on Homes campaigns, ad hoc projects and always-on content (e.g. Paperchase, Fox & Ivy, Go Cook), brainstorming, attending shoots, writing copy for paid and organic posts and reviewing social assets.

 

Digital content

·        Upload and update digital recipes, articles and galleries on Tesco Real Food website.

·        Write SEO articles using platforms such as Semrush to optimise content and collaborate with Tesco’s SEO agency Merkle on use of correct keywords.

·        Manage key digital documents and trackers.

·        Liaise with sub-editing team to ensure all features and social posts are correct.

·        Provide insight and data for recipes using Google Analytics.

·        Email newsletter – write briefs and copy, working directly with the Tesco email team to ensure top-quality email newsletters based on targeting, seasonality and customer mindset.
